Science Integrity Statement
Eldorado National Forest
Our commitment to scientific integrity is foundational to Blue Forest’s mission to accelerate ecological restoration through conservation finance.
Our research underpins the development of conservation finance products that foster climate resilient ecosystems and communities. This commitment is not just a set of principles, but a practice.
Our approach is defined by the following principles:
- Collaborative and inclusive science: Our work is based on published science and partnerships with leading experts, including academic institutions, independent researchers, and cultural practitioners. We are committed to furthering the research priorities of our Indigenous partners, by supporting development of funding, resources, and partnership opportunities.
- Credibility and transparency: We are dedicated to conducting and supporting objective research. We ensure our research is grounded in sound scientific principles and empirical findings, maintaining credibility and integrity. This includes transparency about data sources, models, tools, methods, and the uncertainties in our outcomes.
- Addressing research and knowledge gaps: Our research focuses on filling critical research and knowledge gaps related to the environmental, economic, social, and cultural benefits of ecosystem restoration and management. By doing so, we advance the field of conservation finance beyond the scope of our specific restoration projects, contributing to broader scientific and practical understanding.
- Place-based approach: Our place-based approach embodies our work and our science. Blue Forest collaborates on projects based on their local context, intrinsic value, and potential for ecological restoration and social value. We prioritize collaborating with local scientists and knowledge holders, recognizing our limitations as non-local partners. This ensures that our work is responsive to genuine and holistic local restoration needs and enables our pilot-to-scale business model.
- Multi-benefit focus: We are committed to supporting on-the-ground restoration projects that deliver multiple benefits rather than optimizing for a single outcome. This holistic approach ensures our projects support climate resilient landscapes and communities by considering ecological, economic, and social values.
